Weather Systems across the country:
There is a cyclonic circulation over southern parts of the Arabian Sea and adjoining Indian Ocean.
A trough is active from this system to the Comorin region.
Another cyclonic system is over southern coastal parts of Sri Lanka.
An anti-cyclonic circulation is over central India.
Weather Activity in the last 24 hours:
During the last 24 hours, rainfall activity in the southern peninsula region decreased significantly. However, light to moderate rains continued at some places in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadweep. Heavy rains have also occurred at one or two places in these parts.
The southern islands of Andaman and Nicobar Islands have also received light rain at some places.
Severe cold continues in the states of North India. Cold day and cold wave conditions continued in some parts of northern Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi-NCR.
Moderate to dense fog enveloped many places in Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Odisha.
Weather Activity in the next 24 hours:
During the next 24 hours, there will be very thick fog in many places in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, North Rajasthan, Bihar, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim which may affect rail, road and air traffic.
There is a possibility of dense fog over parts of Northeast India and Uttarakhand.
Cold day and cold wave conditions may continue in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, North Rajasthan and parts of Uttar Pradesh.
The rainfall in the southern parts will reduce further. However, light rains in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Lakshadweep and parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and moderate rainfall at one or two places are expected for the next 24 hours.
