84% Coonoor tea sold due to winter demand

In all, 84 per cent of the offer at Sale No: 13 of the auctions of Coonoor Tea Trade Association was sold with the average price rising to ₹96.58 a kg from the previous week’s ₹95.49 supported by winter demand from upcountry markets. The Broken Orange Pekoe of Homedale Estate, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the CTC auction when Shyam Vittal and Co bought it for ₹253 a kg.

Two other grades of Homedale Estate, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, followed at ₹221 and ₹220. All other CTC grades got less than ₹200. In the orthodox tea market, Chamraj topped at ₹264. All others got less than ₹200.
