Sudden spurt in edible oils

Edible oils market witnessed a sudden spurt in prices on rumours of further duty hike. However, activities remained limited compared to last week as stockists stayed away. In Mumbai, palmolein increased by ₹6 and other edible oils rose over ₹10 per 10 kg each. Local refineries increased their rates by ₹5 for imported oils. At Rajkot, groundnut oil telia tin was up at ₹1,290 (1,270) and loose (10 kg) was at ₹800 (790). BCE spot rates (₹/10 kg): groundnut oil 850 (840), soya ref. 780 (770), sunflower exp. ref. 720 (710), sunflower ref. 780 (760), rapeseed ref. 790 (790), rapeseed exp. ref. 760 (760), cottonseed ref. 778 (765) and palmolein 732 (726).
